The rtl8192cu kernel driver is loaded automatically in the latest Raspian distribution. People seem to have different experiences here. Supports Access point or Ad hoc mode, not both together. Tested without hub on Raspberry Pi 1 B+ running the latest Raspbian Buster. Use an AC Adapter without hub on Raspberry Pi 2/3 running the latest Raspbian Wheezy and Jessie.
